Work Experience at Campbell Soups – Did you know that Campbell Soups has a broad range of careers which you can experience? Careers include:

They will try their best to give you an exceptional work experience – you can shadow an expert, document your experience and participate in supervised tasks. Most of their apprentices are found through work experience.

The Maintenance Department (Engineering) would be happy to take on a work experience student.
Tasks: Limited hands on trades work (due to safety obligations), however you will be assisting tradespeople ie put parts into store, obtaining required parts from store, cleaning parts, tools, exposure to: breakdowns, workshop tasks, PM system, scheduling, planning etc.
Time Frame: Anytime other than our annual shut down period (24 Sept – 5 October, 5 – 9 November)
Human Resources department is also keen to put on a work experience student:
Tasks: Filing of Human Resources Personnel records including: sourcing files; reviewing each document and determining where it fit in the selected category; hole punching and placing files into new folder; returning files to filing cabinet in alphabetical order

PLACES – Victoria Police

Victoria Police (applications submitted via school Careers Coordinator) Oct / Nov (for following year)
Victoria Police offer placements to year 10, 11 or 12 students wishing to undertake work experience at participating police stations and units. To be eligible, students must be aged at least 15 years at the time of placement. Applications are accepted ONLY by career teachers on behalf of students. Students can NOT apply directly to Victoria Police or individual stations. The program opens in September each year, with placements finalised by December for the following year.

The Age work experience program lasts four days (Monday to Thursday) and runs from March to October each year and is open to all students who are 16 years or older. Applications for this program are taken in writing stating why you should be considered for the program and give some possible dates. Apply for work experience at the Shepparton News in Dec / Jan to secure a placement.
The Shepparton News only takes ONE student per month. A request letter is required stating WHY you want to do work experience and what area you are interested in (editorial/journalism, photography or graphic design) plus a resume and a list of possible dates This should be written in editorial style (not just dot points) taking care with grammar and punctuation. When approved send a work experience arrangement form.

The following information is direct from the MTC web site: “Melbourne Theatre Company offers a limited number of work experience placements for secondary school students in the area of stage management. Duties include assisting the stage manager and observing the rehearsal process. Placements are for one week only and first preference is given to students in Year 11.
Placements are only available during the third week of rehearsals for MTC Season 2010 and Education productions. The number of positions is determined by the number of plays produced by MTC during the school year. Due to the large number of applications received we are not able to accept all students who apply.

The Aquarium also runs a number of different activities throughout the year to expose students to the various careers within this industry – although not strictly ‘work experience’ it is a ‘valuable experience’ and well worth including on your resume!
