OH&S – Hazard Fact Sheets
Aug 16th
YOU need to know exactly what you CAN, and CAN”T do when on a work experience placement. By downloading the relevant Hazard Sheet (from the DEECD Safe@work web site) and carefully scrutinizing it, you will find out your rights and responsibilities in the work place as a work experience student. Take the sheet with you during your placement.
Working with Animals?
Aug 15th
If you will be working with Animals whilst on work experience then you must download and complete Guidelines-Working-with-Animals. Please take the forms to your Work Experience Coordinator when complete.
Construction Industry Card?
Aug 8th
Do you need a Construction Industry Card (CI Card) if you are going to WORK on a construction site (building, plumbing, electrical)?
Yes, you do. Please speak with your Careers Advisor at school. Many schools organise a training day at school so that students can get their Construction Industry Card.
You must also complete the relevant safe@work OH&S certificate (and give TWO copies to your Work Experience Coordinator)
On your first day on the job, your employer must conduct a Worksafe Checklist, (please take a copy with you).
Further details about rules and regulations for building sites in Victoria can be found at: Work Safe Victoria including the Safety Induction check sheet for employers.
